Alan Shearer explains the choice of this Newcastle United trio

Alan Shearer has chosen the eleven players who most impressed him this past weekend in the top tier.

The player turned pundit naming his Premier League team of the week.

The NUFC legend including three who played pivotal roles at St James’ Park against West Ham.

The Alan Shearer Premier League team of the week:

Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa)
“Made a big save from Rayan Ait-Nouri at 0-0 and kept a clean sheet. His distribution was also superb.”

Conor Bradley (Liverpool)
“Worked his socks off with some non-stop running in a great battle with Simon Adingra on the right.”

William Saliba (Arsenal)
“An imperious display from the Arsenal centre-back as he helped his side to a big point at the Etihad.”

Gabriel (Arsenal)
“Didn’t put a foot wrong. Man City had no joy against him, they didn’t get a sniff in front of goal.”

Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa)
“Solid at the back and weighed in with a crucial second goal, even if he didn’t know much about it!”

Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
“Proving to be a big player for Chelsea this season. Scored another two goals including a panenka penalty.”

Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)
“Liverpool needed something special to break down Brighton, and he provided it with his pass for Salah’s winner. Ran the show.”

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)
“Bags of energy, a tireless work-rate and set up the winning goal in a sensational comeback win against West Ham.”

Ben Brereton Diaz (Sheff Utd)
“Fulham struggled to handle him. Two goals and an assist should have won Sheffield United the points.”

Alexander Isak (Newcastle)
“Kept his cool to score two penalties and then produced a great assist for Barnes’ equaliser. Wonderful display.”

Harvey Barnes (Newcastle)
“Newcastle looked dead and buried at 3-1 down, but two goals in seven minutes – that is how to make an impact as a sub!”

Manager: Unai Emery (Aston Villa)
“After losing three of their previous four home matches Villa needed a statement victory in their race for fourth, and what better way than winning a derby?”
