This is excellent from Alan Shearer on top Newcastle United star

Alan Shearer looking on in admiration.

Alexander Isak has now scored in six consecutive home games for Newcastle United at St James’ Park and is now also the first player to score 20 goals in a season in all competitions since… Alan Shearer in 2003-04.

Isak has now scored 27 goals in 38 Premier League starts (plus eight appearances off the bench).

After his latest two superb goals against Tottenham, Alexander Isak getting a glowing reference from Alan Shearer.

Alan Shearer talking about Alexander Isak on Match of The Day 2 on Sunday night – 14 April 2024:

“I like him, so do the Newcastle fans and rightly so.

“He is having a wonderful season.

“When you leave him space in behind, he is so dangerous.

“He loves dragging it back from left to right, when defenders go diving in.

“He is bright, he’s alert, he scores all types of goals, 17  goals in 21 starts.

“When you leave space in behind, you had better be quick, because not many are going to catch him.

“Van de Ven, who had a day to forget yesterday, sat him down there [for Isak’s first goal].

“Then he [Van de Ven] tries to play offside [when Isak scored his second]], with that space in behind you are just not catching him.

“No panic, he just coolly puts that away with the inside of his foot.

“The only thing you would say, if you are being really picky, is that you would like to get him onto the pitch more often, in terms of the injuries.

“But what a talent, what a player.

“Superb.”
