Fulham fans comments after deserved Newcastle United win – Loving it!

Fulham fans have been commenting post-match.

Intriguing to read what they have been saying about Newcastle United…

United making it five wins in a row on their visits to Craven Cottage.

Whilst Eddie Howe making it a trio of deserved victories over Fulham this season, with six goals scored and three clean sheets.

I think definitely a case of so many deluded Fulham fans who like their manager, are desperate to distract from the fact that Dubravka didn’t have a single difficult save to make all game.

Whilst for all the Fulham possession, it was Newcastle who created all the biggest goal threats and the home keeper kept busy.

The Fulham fans also in denial on the Schar disallowed goal, which was such a poor moment for VAR and the on the pitch referee. Luckily justice done when United came straight back at them and lashed in the winner.

Fulham fans comment via their Friends of Fulham and FulhamWeb message boards:

‘Ridiculous we lost that game. They had a 10 minute spell and that was it but they have £50 million plus players that can actually put the ball in the back of the net. Argggg!!!’

‘On another day Schar would’ve been sent off for the foul on Iwobi & we’d have won.’

‘I am not confident that we would have scored against a ten men Newcastle.’

‘Probably the one mistake the referee made. Was a clear bookable foul and he ‘bottled’ it. Also allowed Sean Longstaff to berate him after giving a push on Wilson, again could have seen second yellow. The new ref needs to step up and be brave. I also saw the foul for their VAR chalked off goal which looked a clear barge/shove by Dan Burn.’

‘In my opinion there was nothing broke about the way we was playing first half and it just seemed so unnecessary to ring the changes with 3 subs all at once that tipped the balance to Newcastle more and more.

And just when i was thinking that we couldn’t do any worse we found more rabbit holes and trouble of our own doing by subbing another 3 players all in one go which added up to desperation from Marco, i don’t know what has got into him all of a sudden with a hattrick of 3 subs.

Howe gave Gordon the riot act and whatever he said to him it worked and Anthony Gordon’s job was made easier because he was getting the ball more and we know how good the guy is.

Isak had a bad day because he did not see much of he ball but Bruno Guimaraes does have a bit of class and that is the difference at this level. We don’t quite have enough class in this Fulham team yet but we will get there.

Its frustrating today because we did the hard work kept good possession and come away from the game with nothing to show for our hard work. We are not the only mugs and a few prem teams can say the same. Yes’ we are annoyed with Marco and tactically we are looking a bit one-dimensional but we will get better in time and we need a few better players.

Take heart to know that we don’t have the financial clout that Newcastle have and that is the difference between us and them. Keep ball Tom Cairney is the best we got at the moment and our football should go through him but that is just my opinion. You could see from the agitated Eddie Howe that we were giving them problems with Cairney and Willian pulling the strings.’

‘I agree. Today was an error from Marco that let them in. Many said he had no plan B and now it seems he goes from plan A straight to Z!’

‘And yes no question the keeper faked his injury in the first half to stall our momentum and give the Newcastle bench a chance to reorganise their team. Embarrassing and hopefully this will be called out for what it is. And to the Toon journals who are trying to ridicule Marco for pointing this out.- we all knew what you were up to.’

‘What can be done about these teams with players that feign injuries? Newcastle actually managed to get a much needed team talk in the incident.’

‘At times we were so slow, the ball was not moving and our players were just standing there wondering where to kick it, in the meantime Newcastle had plenty of time to crowd their defence. When we beat Tottenham we moved so quickly and got behind their defence. RM had four defenders around him while he was on his own. From attacking positions we would pass back to Leno. If we want to play this slow then we will lose every game.’

Bruno Guimaraes Goal Celebration Newcastle

‘We were doing perfectly fine before Marco’s suicide substitutions. Why 3 off in one big burp like that and then another 3 which is ridiculous! The main trigger that lost us that game was taking off Cairney and Willian and we freely handed more possession to Newcastle. Losing the ball more and more gifted them the game. Muniz had enough chances to score but he didn’t and a whole load of chances were missed. The dangerous Gordon was always going to break through us eventually and it was only a matter of time and self belief building up to their goal. Eddie Howe cold not believe his luck that we had not broken through and it was easy for him to build up momentum in Newcastle.’

‘You couldn’t make it up, how have Fulham managed to lose today, they completely dominated the first half but couldn’t put the ball in the Newcastle net, Newcastle first corner came in the 63 minute yet they were allowed to creep into the game and steal the 3 points, pathetic.’

‘If anyone out there really believes that our performances justify the highest ticket prices in the Premiership, they must have more money than sense.’

‘I thought referee was a bit too soft. Should have given more yellows and definitely should have clamped down on Newcastles time wasting.’

‘He didn’t clamp down on the Newcastle time wasting and bottled the Schar/Iwobi foul.’

‘Newcastle Schooled him regards to injuries and taking time out the game.’

‘Injured players, the Ref is damned if he stops the game for players feigning injury and damned if he plays on and it is a genuine injury. Pereira and Muniz are both persistent feigners of injury so we can’t complain when other teams do it.’

‘The difference is, when goalkeepers get injured ref has to stop the game. So what happened yesterday was disgraceful cheating from Newcastle so that they got a time-out in which Howe gave them new instructions.

When an outfield player fakes an injury, at best you get a free-kick and a bit of a momentum kill as it’s a short break. It can however have negative effects as well, as the ref could signal play on and you then play with one less player. Also if an outfield player gets medical attention he has to wait for the referee to signal it’s okay to come on so you have to be a man down for a short while, whereas there is no such thing with goalkeepers.

Goalkeeper feigning injuries is risk free and it can give a huge boost to the team. I hope Newcastle will get a punishment for their antics yesterday, but I very much doubt it.’

‘I guess the answer is not to allow group gatherings on the touch line to stop the coaching during injuries.’

‘I can’t see how NU can/will be punished. It’s deplorable but, despite him being something of a ‘media darling’ it’s very typical if Eddie Howe. Bournemouth used to do the same under him.’

‘Of course they want. I agree about Howe. About 50% of his “tactics” is maximising the gamesmanship and outright cheating parts of the game with constant injury faking, dirty fouls, etc. Yet somehow, he is considered to be one of the best coaches in the league by many “experts”.’

‘Credit to Eddie Howe for game management I guess, the ref was clueless that he was being played.’

‘The Howe/GK thing is a horrible tactic, totally inconsistent with sportsmanship and the good spirit of the game. I don’t think you can ask the ref to judge during the game whether an injury is genuine but agree with others, there should be a ban on coaching during injury breaks and where there’s evidence of deceit, the FA should investigate retrospectively with the power to impose bans or fines on the manager.’

‘It was clearly planned. The water bottles were placed on the side of the pitch when he went down and the Newcastle team, as a man, went straight over and the coaching began.

I thought the 4th official should have stopped it. It was like the covid water breaks. Admittedly we did more or less the same but it was definitely a planned tactic.

Newcastle pressed us with a greater urgency after that.’

‘Lukic yellow card doesn’t bother me. Losing to a bang average Newcastle team at home does!’

‘MOTM must surely go to their keeper who went down twice with a serious knee injury during our good spell of pressure. Seconds later he leaps high to claim a cross then plays the rest of the game.’

‘We totally dominated the first twenty minutes so probably under instructions Dubravka sat on the ground feigning injury so the game would be stopped. Almost immediately the entire Newcastle team went over to the bench where they were given instructions and not surprisingly we saw a different Newcastle who started to get a foothold in the game. In my view that’s a form of cheating. We don’t have timeouts in football so the players/ coaching staff find a way to abuse the rules.’

‘Everywhere said we dominated first half and should have been leading by a couple of goals, yet when I watched the highlights all I see are half chances which Muniz was the best and I think he had more time than he realized to pick his spot, but I never see the keeper make a difficult save. Best chance second half was Periera’s shot but again a routine save by the keeper.’

‘The first goal was rightly chalked off, not sure what Newcastle fans or commentators were on about. Crystal clear push to the neck of Bassey who was then unable to block the shot. The goal we did concede was mostly down to our fullbacks, in my opinion.’
